Hi , I am from England and I was in your City a few days ago , great place !.
I have to make a large amount of these Cheddar baskets for an Event , is Cheddar the best cheese to use as I has seen some recipes using Parmesan? What is the best way to keep the bowels for a couple of days without them breaking and losing there crispness ?
many thanks

In reply to <a href="https://djfoodie.com/cheddar-bowl/#comment-1020363">Verline</a>.

Hi Verline, I'm not sure I understand your question. The cheese bowl IS cooked cheese. Are you thinking you could fill it with something, top it with cheese, then bake it? I'd worry that the top edges of the bowl would burn. However, I'm not 100% certain I understand your question. Let me know a bit more about what you're thinking and I'll let you know what I think! :D

I appreciate you posting this recipe idea. I found using all cheddar cheese too salty to me so I will be using 3 parts cheddar and 1 part mozzarella next time. I also baked them so I could get more done at a time. Delicious!

In reply to <a href="https://djfoodie.com/cheddar-bowl/#comment-1010391">virginia</a>.

Hi Virgina! I would try to make them "the day of", or at the very least, late on the night before. They do stay firm and will hold their shape for a good while, but I've found that they take on a bit of a "tough/stale" texture the next day. That said, if you're going to fill them with something warm, this may adjust the texture a bit.

Also, be aware that if your mac and cheese is "soupy", it may make for a big mess and the sauce will leak through the holes in the cheese bowls. If it's not super hot and relatively thick (thickened with a roux, for example), I think you'll be fine. I'd also try and fill the bowls at the last possible moment … just in case of any leakage.

Love the idea, but just be aware of the texture issue and leaks.

I hope this helps!

Unknown, technically ... if you limit both carbs AND fat, the body will convert protein to glucose for energy, but ... I'm inclined to agree with your point. Low-carbing and low-fat is ... starvation and will come with all kinds of cravings and hunger pangs. It'll work, but ... it's uncomfortable and unsustainable ... Not recommended.
