Hello everyone! What’s new?
Yep, it’s just a big mess, right now. I’m currently in California. The state has been Shelter-in-place for about a week. Most businesses are closed and more are closing, daily. It’s a ghost town out there, but I’m alive and kicking. I just made a big batch of chicken sausage, in fact. Tasty stuff… and perfect pucks for the freezer!
I’ve been receiving a lot of requests for large inexpensive recipes to cook for the stay-at-home families, as well stashing some goodies for their freezers. I thought perhaps I should reach out with some ideas.
I also had a long conversation with my brother about our current pickle. He made some interesting comments. His stance what that the best thing we can do with our time and our best defense is to be as healthy as possible. Those are some good thoughts, right there!
I personally have a tendency to stockpile foods and almost always have a freezer full of goodies. At this point, I’ve got enough food for near 6 weeks (though, this isn’t uncommon for me… it aids in preventing cheats… as I know I’ve always got something tasty in the freezer!) I’ve also been focused on exercising in the back yard and taking solo hikes with my dog. Not terrible ways to pass the time.
Many of us likely have some free time. So… let’s use that time wisely. Let’s end this fiasco in better shape than we entered it!
Brace yourself for this post. It’s a big one!

Affordable Exercise Equipment and Ideas
I keep reading stories about people feeling trapped and isolated. Staying busy and keeping active is a fantastic way to stave off the mental wonkadoodles. A lot of people forget that they can go outside. Maintain physical distance, don’t go anywhere crowded, but… take a hike! Head up to the mountains, go to a lake, find a local puddle and walk around it. Fresh air, some movement… good for the soul!
For those in cities, where it’s a bit tougher to get outside, at least stay active in the home. Giant rubber bands and inflatable balls will go A LONG way!
I’ve cobbled together a small amount of equipment and am personally keeping to a healthy routine. For a tiny investment you can grab some elastic bands and a big bouncy ball. With just these few little things (and their instruction booklets) you can stretch, increase mobility and even build some strength. They take up no space and are fun and easy to use, too!
Here are 3 fantastic tools you can use to keep your body strong and your sanity sane.

Even if you want to skip the equipment, there are cubic googolplex of fitness experts on the YouTubes.
Here’s a great video showcasing some low-impact body weight HIIT exercises. I’ve been trying to do it in 20 minutes for over a week! No question this has an impact.

Actually, I really credit this woman with putting out a very high-quality series of videos that all take place in one spot and she very VERY rarely uses any equipment. She’s likely got a solution for any trouble areas. Take a look and get busy!
Places to Order Bulk Ingredients
I just received this email from The Food Network. I don’t want to take any credit for it. I’m simply paying it forward. This is actually good information at any time. So… yeah. Bulk stuff!

“Pay What You Can” Offer on my eBooks
As many of us are quarantined to our homes, I know many are going a bit stir crazy. Use the time to learn some new cooking skills. Get reading. Learn something, enhance and improve yourself.
My books are a fantastic way to make all of this happen!
On that note, I want to provide 100% affordable access to my books. I want to help as much as I possibly can. I’ve always held the attitude that no one should be deprived of information, even if much of it is hard earned. That really just boosts the quality of the info!
Over the years, I’ve sent many free books (a few of them were the actual real books) to people who approached me for information, without seeking anything free. They simply opined that money was a barrier. *Alacazam*… Free books! I would far prefer someone get the information they need than me slicing off my profit. I actually picked the idea up from San Francisco’s Exploratorium, where they have a suggested donation, but will never turn anyone away. Even as I kid, I always appreciated that logic. I’ve never forgotten it.
Until the Shelter-in-Place orders are lifted in all states, I am offering each of my eBooks for “Pay What You Can Afford”. Simply go to any of my sales pages and you’ll see the suggested retail price in the box. Just adjust the price to whatever price suits your comfort level.
Only have $5.00 for both books? No problem! Just erase the existing price and type 5.00 in the box.
Want to drop $100? Hey, who am I to stop you? Daddy’s got to eat, too!

REALLY feeling the squeeze? Just type 0.00 and the books will be yours, for free. No questions asked and no further requirements. In fact, if you have any questions, just shoot me an email or hit up my contact page and I’ll do my darndest to offer a quick informative response. I’m here to help!
Free Shipping on Paper Books
For those of you who just have to have the real thing, I’m offering free shipping on my real books. I don’t know how much longer my warehouse will stay open, so I can only offer this through the weekend. I really wish I could do more, but I print small runs and the books cost a pretty penny to print. The Combo is already has a solid discounted price and the other two books are also running sales. Free shipping on top is about as low as I can go. I hope it helps some of you get your hands on these delightful beasts!
On any sales page, pick the book you’d like and enter the appropriate discount code in the PROMO CODE box.
- SHIPPINGFAKERY: The Fakery (Grain-Free/Sugar-Free Quick Breads)
- SHIPPINGCARBAGE: Taking Out the Carbage (Full Dietary Approach + Over 200 varied recipes)
- SHIPPINGCOMBO: Both Books

If I could clone myself, show up, do the shopping, cooking and cleaning for y’all, I’d most certainly do this but, alas, I cannot. “Pay What You Can” and Free Shipping is as good as I got. I do hope it’s enough!
Over 100 Inexpensive Recipes perfect for Batch Cooking
Before we get deep into the meat of this next section, I’d like to suggest two older posts full of ideas on freezer foods and freezer tips. These two posts are positively loaded with quality storage information, inspiration and freezer tips.
Because of the 80/20 rule (80% of the cost of a recipe is usually the meat), I’m building my list around affordable meats… with a few egg and vegetarian options, in an effort to round it all out. I truly hope this helps pass the time, build some health and feed the soul!
(Don’t forget to scroll down for over 100 recipes!)
Please be safe, make healthy decisions, and… I’ll see y’all on the flippity flip!
